Canoeing & Caving

We are headed to Inks Lake and Longhorn Caverns.

Dates

Meet at TUMC Friday — May 17 @ 6:00pm
Return to TUMC Sunday — May 19 @ 2:30pm

This campout is definitely one of the Troop’s favorite campouts! We will be camping at Inks Lake State Park in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. We will arrive late Friday night at camp and set up tents and hit the sack. Saturday morning we will set up camp and then enjoy a full day swimming at the Devils Water Hole, hiking, exploring around the park, and just taking it easy.

Meals and snacks on the road Friday night and Sunday afternoon are the scouts’ and adults’ responsibility, so please bring or send cash with your scout.

Canoeing

Scouts and adults can choose to rent Canoes. The cost of renting Canoes for a 2 hour period is $20 or a 4 hours for $40. Canoes will hold 3 people — 2 in a seat and 1 sitting on a pad in the middle.

Example for a 2 hour rental for 1 canoe:

  • 2 scouts = $10 each

  • 3 Scouts = $6.67 Each

  • 6 Scouts that took equal 1 hour turns = $3.33

Scouts must be 13 or older to be in a canoe without an adult but must have an adult in a buddy boat. Buddy boats always stay together and all participants will have PFD (personal flotation devises).

Note: Canoeing is an additional cost to you, so please bring or send cash with your scout.

Caving

Sunday morning we will eat breakfast and pack up camp. At 9:00 AM we will head over to Longhorn Cavern for our scheduled tour.
